What is your picture?
Have you ever done a jigsaw puzzle and found a piece left over? Somehow it had got put in the wrong box, and just didn’t fit?
That piece didn’t just sit there uselessly while you were putting the puzzle together: you looked at it dozens of times, turned it over, pondered where it could go, checked the picture, put it down again and did the whole thing over later.
The odd piece had consequences, even though it was in the wrong place. It caused problems.
How like jigsaw pieces we all are. Some of us fit our surroundings perfectly. We blend in seamlessly and make everything around us work smoothly.
Others are in the wrong box. They feel out of place. They are in the wrong job or the wrong life and they have no idea how to get back into the right one.
If you are in the wrong box, and we all are at times, take a look at your fellow pieces and see how they are different to you. Can you blend in better?
When we find ourselves out of step with our surroundings, we have two choices:
Change ourselves or change the surroundings.
Both can be difficult, but in the end, our effectiveness as a piece in the puzzle of life is only
possible if we match the picture on the front of the box.
If you don’t have your own picture, you will simply become a piece in somebody else’s puzzle. Equally if you don’t have all of your own pieces, you cannot take pieces from someone else, who’s picture may look very different from your own.
Today’s action point is very simple. I am not asking you to go wildly changing everything in your life. I am asking you to take a little time out to look at the picture on your box. Does the fragment that is you match that picture, or do you need to find out which
picture you really belong to?
So today, look at your own picture, check if any pieces are missing and look to complete your puzzle, if there are any pieces missing, don’t look for anyone or anything to complete it for you. Get clear of your own picture, complete your own picture, get all your pieces in alignment so you can see and enjoy the whole picture.
The beauty in life is that we can always change and add to our puzzle, but it’s always going to be harder if any of our own pieces are missing.
“If you don’t design your own life plan, chances are you’ll fall into someone else’s plan. And guess what they have planed for you? Not much.” Jim Rohn
