So if Action is the missing piece of the puzzle that stops so many from achieving personal success and achievement, why don’t they take the action required to get them the result they say they want.
I’ve worked and coached people from all walks of life who want to make change and improvements to their sport, business or life, yet they fail to take action to move them closer to achieving it.
So you know what you want, so why don’t you do it. What is it that stops people from taking action!
Sometimes it’s lack of self confidence and self belief, other times it’s the Paralysis of Analysis – getting overwhelmed and getting stuck just thinking about all the steps required to get where you want to go. It could be the curse of perfection, waiting to get everything just right and perfect.
“Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” Martin Luther King, Jr.
The reality is though it will never be perfect, the time will probably never be just right, there will always be obstacles and hurdles and something else you could do better first. The key is to just do it anyway, get started move forward, and simply grow stronger and more confident with each step you take.
“Imperfect action is always better than perfect inaction”
I want to introduce you to a solution to help you with your personal and professional development. This incremental step – by – step approach will make a massive difference to your growth, success, performance, results… if you simply focus on it and just do it!
It’s called the 1% Solution – instead at focusing on the big picture, and all the different steps, you simply need to commit to making at least a 1% improvement every day. That’s all just 1%, yes you can make greater improvements but if you can commit to just 1% every day the compounding results are so powerful.
I think you will agree a small 1% is more than possible!
Think of it this way your actions are either moving you closer towards or further away from your goals, so rather than get overwhelmed, just focus and commit to taking small continuous steps, and the momentum of doing this consistently with bring you massive progress in you endeavours.
The Japanese principle for this is called Kaizen, (meaning good change), the term and philosophy for focusing on making continuous change and improvement for the better. In the western world American Personal Development Coach Tony Robins calls this the CANI attitude, the acronym for Constant and Never Ending Improvement.
How much of a difference will a 1% improvement every day really make?
I asked my Math teacher friend Amanda to verify the numbers for me…
If you make a 1% improvement every day, it would be an increase of 3778% over a year, meaning you would be 38 times better off compared to when you started, surely that’s got to be worth the investment!
“Compounding is the greatest mathematical discovery of all time.” Albert Einstein
The good news is you don’t have to wait a year to get the benefits, you with start to reap the rewards as you go along.
Ask yourself – What’s the 1% Improvement I will make today?
“The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” Lao Tzu
Imagine yourself making 1% changes every day that compounds and will make you 38 times better by the end of the year. Imagine what a positive impact this will make to you, your growth and your personal achievement within just a year.
Small changes and improvements every day will make a massive difference to you and your life, so just do it!
