Life is a reflection of the quality of the questions we ask ourselves.
What questions do you ask yourself every day?
Believe it or not, but the questions we ask ourselves impact the quality of our life and our life experiences.
For example, we are often asking why. Almost from the time we learn to speak, ‘why?’ is on our lips, it’s a popular question from curious toddler’s/children, it’s almost an automatic response.
But let’s stop to think about the implication of asking why.
When something goes wrong we ask:
Why does it happen to me?
Why don’t I ever have enough money?
Why can’t I lose weight?
Why did it go wrong?
Why is the world so unfair?
Why am I a failure?
Why can’t I get things right?
I won’t go on … you get the picture.
Why is a powerful word, but it does have the ability to focus attention in the wrong place. It can lead to negative thoughts and destructive thinking.
I think it is a much stronger response to ask ‘how?’ instead.
How best can I turn this situation around?
How can I do better next time?
How can I succeed?
Why is about the past. The past is fine for learning lessons, but lousy for living your life.
How is all about the future. It is positive and powerful and sets you up for the success you deserve.
Now ask yourself, how best can I use this lesson today and start asking myself better quality questions?
All the best
