Stop Looking Back

Is Your Past Holding You Back?

Do you ever find yourself looking back and holding on to the past?

Coming up in this video we’ll explore the power of letting go of the past and how that can help you to move forward now.


When we hold onto the past, it can act like and anchor that keep us stuck and held back in life, where we don’t want to be.

The past can be useful, it can give us the opportunity to learn and grow.

Sometimes it’s nice to look back on memories and experiences, it can remind us of how far we have come. But if we keep looking back, not only will you miss what’s happening now and what’s coming up, but you’re likely to bump into something and potentially have a crash.

I sometimes compare this to driving and the following quote;

“The past is like using your rear-view mirror in the car, it’s good to glance back and see how far you’ve come, but if you stare too long, you’ll miss what’s right in front of you.”

So stop looking behind and focus on the road in front of you now.

And if you don’t drive the same is true if you were walking somewhere, if you are constantly looking over your shoulder behind you, you’re also going to miss what’s in front and the chances are, it won’t be long before you bump into something!

Your mindset has it’s own built in sat nav/gps system and we get more of what we focus on, so if we are constantly focused on the past, we are training and conditioning our mind to keep focusing there.

But the good news is your mindset, is not set, it’s not fixed, you can train your mind to focus on moving forward and enjoying the things around you now.

So, stop looking in the rear-view mirror, you’re not going that way, learn from it and move forward!

Today’s action is to ask yourself, “Am I holding on to the past?”

If so, let go, otherwise it can feel as if you are carrying an unwanted burden. Then shift your focus and stay focused on moving forward towards where you want to go.
